In 2014, the club was bought by the Seongnam City Government and was officially renamed Seongnam FC. From one of our Users: "In 2013, Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma tried to move its native place into Ansan from Seongnam. However, fans of Seongnam stopped it and then Seongnam City Government undertook the team, so it became 'Seongnam FC'. We, fans of Seongnam, hate 'Ilhwa' that tried to remove our team, needless to say the name 'Ilhwa Chunma'. Like the original fans of Wimbledon FC hate the name 'Milton Keynes Dons'. We also get angry when we heard 'Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma'. On the other hand, We get wildly excited with the name of Seongnam FC, that we revived." (Ed: Good show chaps!)
