The Soldiers' Song is the Irish national anthem, and at Celtic Park it is a statement of the club's roots. Celtic was founded in 1888 by the Irish immigrant community in Glasgow, and this anthem has echoed around the ground ever since. A defining piece of the Celtic songs tradition. Lyrics here, in English and Irish.

Teksten voor The Soldiers' Song

IRISH: Sinne Fianna Fáil, atá faoi gheall ag Éirinn, Buíon dar slua thar toinn do ráinig chughainn, Faoi mhóid bheith saor Seantír ár sinsear feasta, Ní fhagfar faoin tiorán ná faoin tráill. Anocht a théam sa bhearna baoil, Le gean ar Ghaeil, chun báis no saoil, Le gunna scréach faoi lámhach na bpiléar, Seo libh canaig Amhrán na bhFiann...

Wat is het verhaal achter The Soldiers' Song?

Celtic FC was founded in 1888 by Brother Walfrid of the Marist Brothers to help the Irish immigrant community in Glasgow's East End, which is the cultural root that makes The Soldiers' Song so resonant at Parkhead.
