Paroles de The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen
The Northern Lights of old Aberdeen
Mean home sweet home to me
The Northern Lights of Aberdeen
Are what I long to be
I’ve been a wanderer all of my life
Any many a sight I've seen
God speed the day when l'm on my way
To my home in Aberdeen
When I was a lad, a tiny wee lad
My mother said to me
Come see the Dons, the glorious Dons
Down at Pittodrie
She called them the heavenly dancers
The dancers in the sky
I'll never forget, that wonderful sight
Down at Pittodrie...

Quelle est l'histoire derrière The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen ?
The song was written in the 1950s by Mary Webb, who composed it to cheer up a homesick colleague longing for the city. It became Aberdeen FC's unofficial anthem and appeared as the B-side on the club's 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup single.
