What's the story behind We're the Timbers Army?

The Timbers Army began as the Cascade Rangers in 2001 and changed its name in 2002 to distance itself from any association with Scottish club Rangers, the Timbers kit at the time resembled Celtic, Rangers' rivals. They predate Portland's MLS entry by a decade.
