When was Alan Thompson first sung?
Alan Thompson joined Leeds on loan from Celtic in January 2007 after 7 years at Celtic Park (4 Scottish league titles, 3 FA Cups, 1 League Cup). He signed a permanent 1-year deal in August 2007 and was made Leeds captain for the 2007/08 League One campaign, Leeds' first ever season in the third tier of English football. He made 11 league appearances in the loan spell, scoring twice. He retired at the end of that contract on 28 May 2008.
What's the story behind Alan Thompson?
Thompson is the only Celtic player to have won an England cap while playing his club football in Glasgow (1 cap, vs Sweden, 31 March 2004). He retired at the end of his Leeds spell, 28 May 2008.
