Abdoulaye Faye arrived at Stoke City from Newcastle in 2008 and became such a presence in the heart of the defence that the fans started calling him Lord. The Senegalese centre-back won the 2008-09 Player of the Year award in his first season and was named club captain by Tony Pulis the following year.
