THE FANCHANTS TOP NEW FOOTBALL SONGS OF 2016


The official FanChants top 10 new football songs for 2016 is in.

Using the FanChants algorithm that includes figures from Spotify, Apple Music (and other streaming services), as well as data from the FanChants app and website: downloads, streams, added to faves and more are added to the calculation to come up with the most popular songs.

Without Further ado, here’s the top ten:

 

1) Will Griggs is on Fire - Wigan (and Northern Ireland) Fans

And the crowd goes wild. The football song everyone was talking about at the end of the season and then taken up by Northern ireland fans as their unofficial, let’s go bonkers anthem, “Will Griggs Is On Fire” makes our number one position in the FanChants Top 10 New Songs of 2016, with the most downloads from fans of other teams, making the difference in the ranking, everyone loves this tune!

2) Dilly Ding Dilly Dong - Leicester City Fans

Ahh, unlike their team in the Premier League, Leicester City’s fans are pipped to the post for number one spot in song of 2016. This cracking tune became famous everywhere. Taken from their enigmatic, but amazingly lovable managers quote. “Dilly Ding, Dilly, Dong” makes number 2 in the FanChants Top 10 New Songs of 2016.

3) Spirit Of Georgie Best - Manchester United Fans 

Man U’s song for the late, great, George Best, a true legend in every sense of the word, makes number 3 in the FanChants Top 10 New Songs of 2016. Man United’s second entry is a classic foot-tapper to the tune of “Spirit In The Sky” in memory of Best’s legendary status at Old Trafford.

4) Coleman Had a Dream - Wales Fans 

Wales’ fans second entry into our top 10 and don’t they deserve it. England, via Newcastle fans, started this song, the Welsh took it up with gusto and downloaded the ringtone from our apps in their thousands, making “Coleman Had a Dream” our number 4 in the FanChants Top 10 New Songs of 2016.

5) Tony Martial Scores Again - Manchester United Fans

50 million down the drain? Man United’s fans don’t seem to think so with this catchy tune about their teenage, French magician: “Tony Martial Scores Again”, makes number 5 in the FanChants Top 10 New Songs of 2016. The first of two Man United entries in the top 5.

6) We've Got Payet - West Ham Fans

This one was heard in various versions, from various teams, about various players, around the grounds of England this season. West Ham’s ode to probably the hottest property in the Premier League and sensation at the Euro’s, “We’ve Got Payet”, was the most popular of all songs to the Achy Breaky Heart tune and is at number 6 in the FanChants Top 10 New Songs of 2016.

7) Don’t Take Me Home - Wales Fans

 A late entry, due to Wales’ tremendous feat of reaching the Euro 2016 semi-final, this one was sung with typical Welsh gusto, both at the games and in the bars. “Don’t Take Me Home” makes number 7 in the FanChants Top 10 New Songs of 2016.

8) WE'VE GOT OZIL, MESUT OZIL - Arsenal Fans

The second entry for a song by the tune of Achy Breaky Heart, Mezut Ozil’s football song only makes it number 8 in the FanChants Top 10 New Songs of 2016.

9) Diamond Called Ross Barkley - Everton Fans

Popular early season and still being downloaded on the website in numbers at the end of the season. Everton fans first of two songs in the top 10, makes number 9 in our Top 10 New Songs of 2016.

10)  Leonardo Ulloa - Leicester City Fans

Premier League title winners, Leicester City, have two songs in the top 10. “Leonard Ulloa” had huge downloads on websites, iTunes and apps early in the year. This is a catchy number about their Argentine striker Leonardo Ulloa. The first Leicester City fan’s song is at number 10 in the FanChants Top 10 New Songs of 2016.
